Elementary school-aged kids are tough to shop for. One day they want star wars legos and are obsessed and the next they are happy with an over sized amazon box. The kids in my life always seem to be overrun with unused toys, so I am that cousin who gifts books and board games for holidays and birthdays. So, here we are with a list of the most successful gifts for this aged kid (in my opinion, and I am the oldest of 40 cousins so I know lots of young kids!) This gift guide does contain affiliate links for Amazon, of which I may recieve a small portion of the proceeds.
A boxed set of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: This series has been beloved by all kids this age, including me! The mix of greek mythology and modern times just totally enthralls kids, and this boxed set looks expensive, but is less than $18 on Amazon! I purchased two this holiday season for different kids I needed gifts for! Click on the photo to purchase.
I read past my bedtime shirt: I thought this shirt was so adorable when I saw it, and for kids who love to read, it is perfect! Even for kids who aren’t quiet at the “Loving reading” stage, it can help jumpstart a lifelong love! Click on the photo to purchase.
The Illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Uh I’m not sure I have to explain why this is a great gift for kids but Harry Potter + beautiful pictures = gift-giving perfection. Click on the photo to purchase.
Ticket to Ride Europe: This game is fantastic for kids aged 9-13 right in that preteen stage but with a few more variations on the first game, it makes it great for a family game night with parents too. Diary of A Wimpy Kid: A tricky way to get kids to read is with graphic novels! There are still a few outdated teachers whowon’t allow kids to read them for homework or in class, but they actually are fantastic ofr kids! These graphic novels are a huge hit and you can buy just one or a whole set for a great price! Pair it with a bag of candy and you have a great gift! Click on the photo to purchase.
I Survived Series: I had never heard of these books until my nanny kid was telling me about them, but man I wish these were around when I was a kid! I aboslutly loved history and these books are all about different historical events. The charecters tell the story about what they sruvived from D-Day to the Great Mollassas Flood. In an entertaining form, kids can learn so much history that will stay with them for years. Click on the photo to purchase.
